Abstract
This paper highlights the role of technology in shaping curriculum and instruction in the 21st century. For millennia even at a primordial level, technology has been used to shape life, culture and civilization. In the era, its role becomes even more prominent and of necessity glued to education, a social agency with the mandate to develop human capacity. Technology in education appears to enhance the drive for effective curriculum delivery, push towards a unified global culture anchored on technomania, create a common global educational standard and facilitate greater learning abilities due to its touch with realities. Conversely, its connection with digital divide and exclusion, resultant unemployment and unprecedented flux in its by-products affecting educational processes. This notwithstanding, technology cannot be wished away in educational pursuits. To this end, some recommendations have been put up which are that relevant technology be considered while designing and implementing the curriculum, the relevant of man who employs the technology should be guaranteed, and that facilities and policies be put in place to enhance the use of educational technology in our schools
