Assessing the Effectiveness of Online Resources in Enriching Curriculum Contents

Abstract
The integration of online resources into educational curricula has transformed teaching and learning processes, offering new opportunities to enhance educational experiences. This study assesses the effectiveness of online resources in enriching curriculum content, focusing on the course ED221 (Curriculum Theory and Planning) at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education,  Owerri, Nigeria.Using census technique of sampling, a sample of 120  pre-service students offering ED 221which was the entire population of the study, was used for the study due to its smallness.  A 40–items researchers’-made structured questionnaire titled AEORECC (Assessing the Effectiveness of Online Resources in Enriching Curriculum Contents) was used to collect data. A reliability co-efficient of 0.75 was established using Cronbach-Alpha The instrument was structured in Four-Point scale  response options of,  Very High Extent (VHE)= 4 points, High Extent (HE) = 3points, Low Extent (LE) = 2 points and Very Low Extent (VLE =1point for a positively skewed items. The two research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation. Findings revealed that both male and female students perceived online resources to significantly enhance their understanding and engagement with course material. Students reported that online videos, interactive tools, and discussion forums were particularly effective in improving comprehension and fostering collaboration. However, challenges such as accessibility and infrastructure limitations were noted, especially among female students.
