Integration of Global Perspectives and Cultural Competency in Digitalized Curricula: Benefits and Challenges

Abstract
The integration of global perspectives and cultural competency into digitalized curricula is pivotal for preparing students for a globalized world, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and promoting educational equity. This study explores both the benefits and challenges of embedding these elements in digital learning environments. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The area of the study is Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, (AIFUE) Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. With the population of 114 pre-service teachers(males 11, females 103)in ED/Health. Using census technique of sampling, a sample of 114 pre-service students offering ED 321which was the entire population of the study and was used for the study due to its smallness. A 25–item researchers-made structured questionnaire titled IGPCCDCBC (Integration of Global Perspectives and Cultural Competency in Digitalized Curricula: Benefits and Challenges ) was used to collect data. The two research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while, Paired Sampled t-test statistics was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significant level. The study revealed that both male and female students agreed that integrating global perspectives significantly enhances their understanding of diverse cultures. Some recommendation were to include, provision of ongoing professional development for educators by implementing continuous training programs for educators focused on integrating global perspectives and cultural competency into digital curricula.
